The facilitator of the Workshop, was Prof.Chris Jacobs (Founder / CEO of
HIGHER LEARNING AFRICA (HLA), under the chairpersonship of Mr.Pat
Willims (Managing Director of HLA).
The main topics that were discussed were : Technology and the Fourth
Industrial Revolution (Wave); SMART Schools, SMART Universities and
SMART Cities (Communities); Impact of Technology on Learning Theories;
Psychological Impact of Technology; Technology and the World of Work;
Effective Classroom Mangement in a SMART School Environment;
Implementation of a SMART Strategy in a School and Quality Assurance and
Technology Application.
Architect Sam Pellissier, described the Workshop as successful and
innovative. Mr. Rudolph van der Merwe experienced the Workshop as
relevant and Mr. Jan Mostert of Stellenbosch High School, was of the
opinion that the required knowledge can be valuable to make Stellenbosch
High School, a top rated and benchmark SMART School in South Africa.
A request was tabled to repeat the Workshop, to provide more Schools the
opportunity to be exposed to the technological and digital demands of
the Fourth Industrial Revolution (Wave).
Based on the outcomes and results of the Workshop, Prof. Chris Jacobs is
publishing an article on LinkidIn, with the following focus : Holistic
Overview of South African Schools entering the Fourth Technology -
Digital Revolution (Wave).
HLA is presenting two International Workshops on Establishing SMART
Schools in January, 2020 in Stellenbosch South Africa and Lagos,
Nigeria.
